HyperWorks 3.02 fixed a bug reported on America Online. Supposedly, on some of the buttons, the text was too large. We have changed both the font and the size to Chicago 12. If this problem still presists, please let us know.
A new feature in HyperWorks 3.2 is the Distribution feature. This allows you to make a read-only version of any HyperWorks document, although it may not work correctly with files created with older versions of HyperWorks. In order to use the Distribution feature, you must register HyperWorks. When you register, we will send you a registration code for you to use. You are not permitted to distribute “regular” HyperWorks documents to other people unless they are also registered users of HyperWorks.
You may now be wondering why we do this, while most other programs will let you. The reason is simple. Say you’re using Mariner (a shareware spreadsheet program). You could give a spreadsheet to anyone without much of a problem. In order to read it, they would either have to translate the file to another program (perhaps Microsoft Excel), or have a copy of Mariner for themselves. The information is in your file, and the interface is in the Mariner program. But since HyperWorks uses HyperCard, the information and the interface are in the same file. So someone who has not even downloaded HyperWorks will be able to make their own files.
HyperWorks requires System 6.0.5 or newer, HyperCard 2.1 or newer, and a minimum of 2 megabytes of RAM. It may not function correctly with only 2 megabytes of RAM under System 7. We have no way to test it. Like everybody else, we recomend having 4 megabytes if you use System 7 anyway (actually, nowadays, everybody says 8MB is the minimum). This goes for System 7.0, System 7.0.1, System 7.1, System 7.1.1 (System 7 Pro), and System 7.1.2 (Power Macintosh). If you use System 7.5, you will probably need 8 megabytes of RAM to use HyperWorks. We use System 7.1, so we don’t really know.
For more information about the program, click the About HyperWorks 3.2 button on the main HyperWorks screen. Included there is all the legal (read B-O-R-I-N-G) mumbo-jumbo. But that’s way down on the bottom, and you’ll know when you get there.
You can now get direct online support (including the latest versions of all our programs) on Olympia BBS. It is a FirstClass system, but does support a VT100 login. To find us, open the Files folder.
